Scott Lawson
Scott Lawson is an experienced trial lawyer and business litigator. He has represented corporations and individuals for nearly 20 years in a wide variety of litigation matters. He has a broad range of substantive knowledge, with specialties in employment, trade-secret, employee-movement, contracts, real estate, unfair competition, false advertising, defamation, fraud, privacy, copyright and trademark matters.     

Mr. Lawson represents clients in state and federal court, in securities and shareholder-derivative litigation, in investigations by audit committees and special committees, and in arbitration proceedings within FINRA, AAA and JAMS. In addition, he advises companies regarding employment practices, regulatory compliance, and other litigation-avoidance counseling. Mr. Lawson also has successfully argued before state and federal appellate panels.  

Mr. Lawson has numerous trial and arbitration wins for clients in a variety of business areas, including employment, finance, high tech, aerospace, defense contracting, commercial security, entertainment and consulting. In addition, he has a long track record of obtaining dismissal of claims before trial. A seasoned negotiator, Mr. Lawson's reputation as a tenacious litigator who is willing to try difficult cases allows him to obtain favorable settlement terms for his clients.  

Prior to joining Pennington Lawson, Mr. Lawson was a litigation partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan for ten years. He also was previously a partner at Greenberg Traurig, and an associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. He has repeatedly been named a Northern California "Super Lawyer" and was named one of Northern California's top appellate lawyers by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine. 

Mr. Lawson graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master's Degree in Asian Studies, and received his law degree from the University of Utah College of Law, where he was Articles Editor of the Utah Law Review.  He was also a National Defense Fellow in Tamil language studies and studied Tamil in South India on a year-long fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies at the University of Chicago.
